SO WHAT IS IT?
For years now I have tried to teach people how to pray. I have been in the ministry as a Pastor for 25 years and I have learned through trial and error how to communicate with God and how to pray. Truth be known, i'm no expert but I do have the experience. For the last couple of months I have considered how to accomplish my wish of teaching people how to pray by using my blog. My idea is to use my blog as a model to teach people the simplicity of prayer and how to effectively pray for the needs in our lives. Prayer/ Blog (PLOG) I know its stupid right? Well, stupid is as stupid does; I have become a praying fool!
HOW DOES IT WORK?
As I stated above, prayer should be simple. I think we make it difficult and boring when we forget the most important component; its just simply talking with God. Now to start this process you have to be a little crazy because you're praying to a God you cannot see and a God you cannot hear, or can you? Like any other discipline in your life, prayer will cost you your time and trust me, it's time well spent. I suggest you give this 3 weeks or so before you move on to your next commitment that you plan on giving up (kidding).
Every "PLOG" will consist of an area in my life that I pray about. I will show you how to pray for the various things in your life by showing how I would pray for them; again, I will keep it simple. My goal is to take you away from a prayer life that resembles a fast-food order to a disciplined, focused and powerful time of communicating with God. For those of you who know me, you know that I am very methodical in my approach to spiritual things so there is no intimidation here. If there are things that you would like to know how to pray for just ask and I will cover it.
RULES
I can imagine my family reading this first post and saying, he's gonna rat me out! I will pray in a very generic format. I will stay away from names, specifics about others while remaining an open book to you (if you attend my church, you know what I mean). Please do not try to read in too much to what is said but rather focus on how it is said. Focus on what scriptures are referenced and how they are used. You can do this.
More to come later.
Blessing GD
